Meet la Famiglia...
This is the team behind the Summerville Italian Feast. These are the capos, consiglieres, and trusted members of the operation who work all year long to plan the feast, cook the pasta, pour the wine, and make sure the whole neighborhood shows up for a good time.
But this crew isn’t running a racket (wink-wink), they’re running a mission. Every cannoli, every meatball, and every sponsorship helps support the teachers, staff, and students of Dorchester School District Two through the incredible work of the DD2 Foundation. So, when you see these board members, just remember…they may look like a bunch of wise guys, but their real business is supporting the kids and the teachers and staff who take care of our community.
Our Roots: Bringing the Old Country to the Lowcountry
Baskets of ripe tomatoes, mountains of fresh pasta, the smells of brick oven pizzas, and bottles of fine Italian wine line Hutchinson Square, nestled in historic downtown Summerville. Since the Feast began in 2012, we’ve been more than just a festival—we’ve been a celebration of Italian culture, community, and heart. Through authentic Italian cuisine, spirited live entertainment, and the joyful buzz of local artisans, we’ve created an event that feels like a walk through an Italian piazza—right here in South Carolina.
Passion with a Purpose: Education
From day one, the Feast has had a grander purpose—supporting Dorchester District Two students and teachers. In 2019 we gave $9,000; by 2025, proceeds soared to $42,000 in a single year—pushing our cumulative donations to over $140,000. Every meatball, slice of pizza, and sip of vino directly funds classroom projects, STEM kits, art sets, and new initiatives in a district that ranks among the lowest funded in South Carolina.
A Community Movement: The Meatball Run
In 2023, we spiced things up by adding the Meatball Run—a USATF-certified 5K and 1‑mile fun walk through Summerville’s charming streets. What started with about 200 runners grew to more than 440 in 2024—and with the additional funds raised, we were able to top $40K in donations. It’s fitness mixed with festivity, giving runners and families a delicious reason to come together before the main Feast day.
Rooted in Heritage, Powered by Volunteers
Our event thrives on passionate community involvement. Local students take over the stage, performing music, dance, and theatre. Volunteers—many with Italian roots—bring generosity and authenticity to every tent. Vendors from across the region bring together Italian and Lowcountry flavors under one vibrant canopy
